“I Can’t Even Read This”: Trump’s J6 Statement Was So Unhinged, MSNBC Host Gave Up

President-elect Donald Trump recently announced his unsurprising plan to pardon January 6th rioters as one of his first official acts after he’s sworn in office next month.

During a segment on that topic this morning, one MSNBC host became rather exasperated and ultimately gave up on even trying to make sense of Donald’s comments to Time magazine on the subject.

Alicia Menendez, co-host of MSNBC’s The Weekend, spoke with attorney Marc Elias this morning, where she hoped to get her guest’s genuine reaction to the news that Donald Trump intends to divvy out J6 pardons within hours of his impending inauguration, by reading directly from Donald’s recent interview with Time as part of their “Person of the Year” issue.

However, Menendez quickly ran into issues when she found that she couldn’t even make heads or tails of what the president-elect was saying in the interview.

“I’m sure you saw, Marc,” the MSNBC host began as she looked down and read directly from Donald Trump’s interview, “You had Trump talking to Time magazine about these pardons. ‘I’m going to do case by case and if they were nonviolent, I think they have been greatly punished. And the answer is I will doing that, yeah, I’m going to look if there’s –‘”

“I can’t even read this, the syntax is so bad,” Menendez told Elias, “But you get the idea, Marc. The thing we talked about is the fact that this is about a future permission structure, it’s not just about punishment. It’s about sending a message to people who would consider doing this again about what the consequences would be.”

“Yeah,” Elias responded before going on to add, “First of all, I have to give Time credit for one thing: not cleaning up his syntax. You’re right, you read the words uncleaned up, it’s incoherent.”
