President Donald Trump launched a disgusting, yet wholly unsurprising attack against CNN’s Kaitlyn Collins during today’s press briefing on the matter of the catastrophic and deadly D.C. air crash after the reporter dared to ask the newly installed POTUS if he’s “getting ahead” of events with his commentary on the tragedy.
The US was left stunned and heartbroken after a Black Hawk Army Helicopter collided with an American Airlines flight with over 60 people aboard near Ronald Reagan National Airport at 8:48 pm Wednesday night.
64 people were on the American Airlines flight and 3 people were aboard the Black Hawk Army Helicopter. There were no survivors.
President Trump, as expected, initially reacted to the tragedy with a series of social media posts last night and followed up with an official press briefing on the matter this morning, where he blamed everyone from his predecessor President Joe Biden, to DEI hires, to the Army soldier in the helicopter.
Collins used the press briefing to challenge Trump’s attempts to spread blame across people and policies he considers enemies, despite there being little to no facts or evidence surrounding the crash yet.
“We don’t yet know the names of the 67 people were killed. And you are blaming Democrats and DEI policies, and air traffic control, and seemingly the member of the U.S. military who was flying that Black Hawk helicopter,” Collins pressed the president. “Don’t you think you’re getting ahead of the investigation right now?”
“I don’t think so at all,” Trump shot back. “I don’t think with the names of the people. You mean the names of the people that are on the plane? You think that’s going to make a difference?”
“Does it comfort their family to hear you blaming DEI policies?” Collins questioned.
“They are a group of people that have lost their lives. If you want a list of the names we can give you that we’ll be giving that very soon. And in coordination with American Airlines, we’re in coordination very strongly, obviously, with the military. But I think that’s not a very smart question,” Trump responded, prompting Collins to interject, “But are you blaming air traffic controllers–.”
“I’m surprised coming from you,” Trump fumed. “Please. Please.”
