“Absolutely Brutal”: Mockery Ensues After Fox News Runs A List That Showed Just How High Prices Could Get Under Trump’s Plan

Fox News’ Sunday segment seemed to leave a nation divided — some of us doubled over in laughter and mockery while others were undoubtedly left questioning their life and political choices — after the highly Conservative entertainment-masquerading-as-news outlet ran an extensive list of numerous items that were expected to see a major price hike under Donald J. Trump’s new tariff plan.

Over the weekend, Fox News host Jon Scott did not mince words when he told GOP lawmaker and devout Trump ally Nancy Mace that “virtually every sector” of the economy will soon be negatively impacted by newly-inaugurated President Trump’s policy.

To add insult to injury, as if Scott’s words alone weren’t painful enough, the network then aired and painfully scrolled through a running list of items that are expected to be affected by the Trump Tariff plan — leading many Americans to bury the president, the network, and the MAGA crowd in “told you so” mockery.

Popular Liberal commentator Brian Tyler Cohen said, “Absolutely brutal scroll on Fox.”

The Tennessee Holler chimed in, “In case you’re wondering what’s about to get MORE expensive, helpful FOX scroll,” adding the hashtag, “Trump Trade War.”

Max Flugrath, communications director for Fair Fight Action, added, “OX NEWS’ list of goods affected by Trump’s tariffs: Crude oil Beer and alcohol Lumber Steel Shoes Avocados Maple syrup Ground beef Cherry tomatoes Sugar Bananas Nuts Cooking oil Squash Cucumbers Strawberries Pineapples Tonka trucks and toys BMW Audi Nissan Mazda Ford.”

Historian Robert Bentley said, “Pretty bad when [Fox News] has a running scroll of items affected by the [Trump] Tariffs! Tariffs=Taxes and higher prices!”

Independent journalist Aaron Rupar went simple with his response to the segment by quoting the Fox News host, “It seems like virtually every sector of the American economy’ — Fox News has put together a scrolling list of the ‘goods affected by Trump tariffs,'” complete with a “cringe” emoji.

I would say “I hate to say I told you so.” But I honestly don’t hate to say it at all.
