One now-former agent for the United States Internal Revenue Service is eating their crow and they don’t like the taste of it after they proudly voted for Donald J. Trump in the 2024 presidential election, only to find themselves canned from their job and left high and dry by the very same man just a few short months later.
Newly out-of-work IRS agent Robert McCabe sat for an interview with NBC Philidelphia and held absolutely nothing back as he fumed that President Trump appears to be indiscriminately and unceremoniously firing government employees from their positions without so much as glancing at their productivity or contributions to their respective agencies.
“You know when he talks about government waste and all that, yes, I’m behind it,” McCabe said in the interview. “I believe there is a lot of stuff in the government that needs fixing. And that’s part of the reason why I actually wanted to work for the government, actually. To help change. Help change the things that are wrong in the world, you know? I thought that someone with his business acumen would have come in with a fine-tooth comb and actually found it instead of coming in with a wrecking ball and destroying people’s lives for no reason.”
McCabe is FAR from the only Trump voter to find themselves burned in a bad kind of way as a result of the Trump/Musk slash-and-burn approach to government employees as part of the DOGE initiative to weed out financial waste, fraud, and corruption from the US government.
Just earlier this week, Fox’s Jesse Watters used his segment to publicly plead with the president to give a military veteran friend his job back after they found themselves on the receiving end of the dreaded DOGE axe.
“This guy is not a DEI consultant,” Watters begged and whined on his Fox show. “This guy is not a climate consultant. This guy is a veteran. So when you’re talking about DOGE-ing people, veterans should get priority. Because if you’re going to go out there and kill enemies, and put your life on the line for this country, you should not be in the same category as people that are doing DEI.”
