Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has had it up to here with Donald Trump’s “trade war” and looked straight into television cameras today to directly address his American counterpart and tell him just how “dumb” his decision truly was.
At 12:01 a.m. today, the Trump Administration made good on their weeks-long threat to impose sweeping tariffs against almost all imports from America’s bordering countries, Mexico and Canada — a move that instantly sent the Dow Jones, S&P 500, and Nasdaq plummeting.
Donald Trump has been peddling these proposed tariffs since his campaigning days and has regularly touted them as an almost immediate solution to curb undocumented immigration as well as the trafficking of illicit substances such as Fentanyl into the US across its national borders.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau held a news conference in the wake of these tariffs today, in which he directly responded to the US president, stating that there was “no justification” for what he’s done, adding that Canada has done quite literally all they can to comply with Donald Trump’s increasingly unhinged and strict border requests.
However, enough is enough, as Trudeau went on to openly accuse the sitting US president of igniting a full blown “trade war” with the country’s “closest friend,” all while pointing out Donald Trump’s disgusting and disturbingly chummy relationship with Russian dictator Valdimir Putin.
“oday the United States launched a trade war against Canada, their closest partner and ally, and their closest friend. At the same time they’re talking about working positively with Russia, appeasing Vladimir Putin: a lying murderous dictator. Make that make sense,” the Candaian Prime Minister said in this morning’s news conference.
“Canadians are reasonable and we are polite but we will not back down from a fight, not when our country and the well-being of everyone in it is at stake,” he added.
The Canadian leader went on to cite the Wall Street Journal editorial board’s recent criticism of the Trump tariffs as he stared a hole straight into the television cameras and addressed Donald Trump directly:
Donald, they point out that even though you are a very smart guy, this is a very dumb thing to do.”
Trudeau went on to address the American citizens personally:
We don’t want this. We want to work with you as a friend and ally and we don’t want to see you hurt either but your government has chosen to do this to you.”
Trump did issue a response to Trudeau’s remarks in a statement released on his Truth Social platform, in which he raged, “Please explain to Governor Trudeau, of Canada, that when he puts on a Retaliatory Tariff on the U.S., our Reciprocal Tariff will immediately increase by a like amount!”

Trudeau: “Now I want to speak directly to one specific American. Donald … it’s not in my habit to agree with the Wall Street Journal, but Donald, they point out that even though you’re a very smart guy, this is a very dumb thing to do.
