One California Democratic Congresswoman couldn’t stomach Donald Trump’s “shameful” State of the Union address to Congress last night and took to social media with a profanity-laced announcement that she was walking out.
California Democratic House Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove took to her social media account about 45 minutes into Donald Trump’s big speech and wrote that she’d had all she could take and she had to leave “on behalf of California’s 37th district.”
“There’s only so much bulls— a person can tolerate,” Kamlager-Dove wrote in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).
The Democratic Rep. said in a statement that she had decided to attend Donald’s State of the Union to ensure that lawmakers who have this nation’s “best interests at heart would have a presence in the audience.”
“However, what I witnessed tonight was shameful,” she explained. “I walked out of the Joint Address on behalf of the people of California’s 37th District — and because there is only so much bulls— that a person can tolerate.”
Kamlager-Dove went on to publicly blast Donald Trump for entering the House chambers, looking the United States Congress right “in the eyes,” and “[lying] straight to our faces.” She said that her California district has the fourth-largest Medicaid enrollment in the country.
“How dare he tell the 56% of my constituents who rely on Medicaid that their benefits are safe when his top legislative priority is cutting federal health care funding by up to $2.5 trillion,” the Democratic House Rep. fumed.
“I won’t sit down and watch as he slashes the programs that keep my constituents alive so he can turn his Billionaire Boys Club into the Trillionaire Boys Club.”
Kamlager-Dove publicly demanded that Donald Trump “stop the lies, stop the cheating, and stop the stealing — enough is enough,” before concluding, “America deserves better.”
